Goat and horse hairs are most commonly used for making Chinese hair brushes. The hair of rabbit; wolf; deer; fox; weasel; pig; oxen, badger and chicken feather brushes are also used in Chinese brush making. The brush head is held together with adhesive and fixed in a bamboo, wood or bone handle. Occasionally, you might see brush handles made of different gemstones or beautifully decorated porcelain. They are more for collectors, though they can be used for serious work .
